Located in the heart of Green Country in Northeastern Oklahoma, Tulsa is the second-largest city in the state of Oklahoma and 45th-largest city in the United States.

 

 The city is situated on the banks of the Arkansas River at the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. The Arkansas River runs right next to downtown and there is actually an inland port outside of Tulsa in Catoosa.

 Tulsa has been known as the “Oil Capital of the World for most of the 20th century and is one of the most important hubs for the American oil industry.

 

Considered the cultural and arts center of Oklahoma, Tulsa has world-renowned art museums, ballet and opera companies. The city has one of the nation’s largest concentrations of art deco architecture and the buildings are stunningly beautiful. Take a tour of the downtown buildings and churches if you have the time.

 

Tulsa’s recreational destinations are plentiful with many lakes, beautiful parks and garden centers to choose from. The City of Tulsa manages 140 parks covering roughly 6,000 acres.
